David's Mumblings

The Gamer and his Girlfriend

category: Humor
I came across this little video and I found it quite amusing... stereotypical but with elements of truth to it! :-)

View it here (you need flash -- also, might want to resize the window to make it a little smaller) ^ TOP

Off to New York

category: Work
I leave today for New York, shuttle at 1:30 and plane at 4 pm. Very exciting and stressful!

Here's a map of where I'm staying and where the office is:
Google maps

Pretty cool, huh? They put me just a block away from the office. No taxis! (One wonders if money saved on taxis offsets money spent on downtown hotel rooms!)

Anyhow, now I have to finish a homework assignment that's due tomorrow, but which I won't be around to drop off!

Wish me luck... I get back on Saturday. I should have Internet access from the hotel, but you never know... ^ TOP

Aurelie's Job Search

category: Work
In the ongoing job-search story, Aurelie was just accepted at her top choice company: the Boston Consulting Group. She should be working there in San Francisco over the summer.

To give an idea of the odds involved, the entire University is in principle eligible to submit resumes. Then, they select about one hundred for on-campus interviews. Of that, somewhere between 20 to 30 make it to the final round interviews (per office). And finally, each office only accepts about 4 people.

So congratulations to Aurelie! :-) BCG is an extremely prestigious consulting group, so it's a very good place to be for the summer.

I will post news about my own job search shortly. In brief, I am flying to New York this Thursday for my own final round of interviews with the D.E. Shaw group. Here's to hoping that it goes well! ^ TOP
