David's Mumblings

New Blog

category: General
As posted on my other blog:
I'm moving my blog to Nucleus Content Management System. It's better for a variety of reasons, one of which being that you can categorize posts.

Once I get that done, I'll get around to posting all that news that needs to go up... and there's lots of it!

I have to finish moving all the comments from this blog, and then it'll be officially dead.

The new address is: http://blogs.the-haleys.org/david.php.

Llama Llama Llama

category: Humor
If you liked 'Badger Badger Badger' (or just thought it was funny in a sophomoric kind of way) you will probably have the same feeling for 'The Llama Song'.

(Why is it sophomoric, and not freshmanesque?) ^ TOP

Mastering the Mustang

category: General
Aurelie and I went to get our car's 10,000 mile maintenance last Saturday. (We skipped our 5,000 maintenance, bad, bad.) One of the things Ford includes for "free" in the $200-or-so is a rental car. I was expecting an old, beat-up car, or at least something not too great. What we got instead was a relatively recent convertible Ford Mustang! Aurelie doesn't usually want to drive (nor does she "unwant" to drive) but this time we had to split the driving very fairly for the day. :-)

Driving the Mustang was definitely very fun. I'd always known that the Ford Focus was a lower-end car but I had no basis for comparison. The Mustang was a much more comfortable drive; the acceleration was smooth as was braking. Another thing is that it didn't seem to mind going fast. The Focus goes as well, but it rumbles and complains a bit more; with the Mustang it was pretty easy to accidentally find oneself at 80 mph without meaning to...

For comparison's sake, the Focus costs about $16,500 new and the Mustang costs about $28,000... if I remember correctly.

Ah well. It was fun... ^ TOP

Smiling

category: General
Sos I get my check in the mail today from my parents to pay for my tuition + school expenses for the upcoming quarter. On the receipt/form is a little memo/note that says "Don't spend it all in one place!" Made me smile for the day. :-) ^ TOP
